For us and the souls of the righteous, and THE POWER OF ARCHANGEL MICHAEL (lines from T. H. Shevchenko's poem "Haidamaky").

    In the upper part of the obverse is a trident (the small state coat of arms of Ukraine) and the text along the arc of the coin's edge NATIONAL BANK OF UKRAINE. In the center, within an octagonal cartouche on a shield, is depicted the emblem of the National Bank of Ukraine - allegorical figures of griffins, between which is a *hryvnia* - the monetary-weight unit of Ancient Rus'. This emblem symbolizes the protection and multiplication of the state's gold reserves. Furthermore, the obverse features the coin's denomination, year of minting, and the designation of the metal, its fineness, and weight in pure metal.
