Along the arc of the left and right edge of the coin is an inscription in Spanish 'FIRME Y FELIZ POR LA UNION' - 'Strong and Happy through Unity', below 10 soles - '10 SOLES'.

    In the central part, the main coat of arms of the Republic of Peru is depicted: a heraldic shield, surrounded by palm and laurel branches tied with a ribbon, above the shield - a wreath. Along the coin's edge is a decorative raised pattern in the form of denticles, along which are the country name 'REPUBLICA PERUANA', the mint 'LIMA', the fineness '9 DECIMO'S FINO Y B' (9/10 fine gold), the engraver's initials, and the year of minting in Spanish 'REPUBLICA PERUANA LIMA 9 DECIMO'S FINO Y B 1863'.
