At the top along the rim (edge) are the words 'BANK OF RUSSIA'. In the center of the coin is a double-headed eagle, below it the denomination 'ONE RUBLE'. Under the eagle's left leg is the mint mark 'MMD'. At the bottom near the edge is the year of issue '2001', above the year are two pointed, oppositely directed lines with a dot.
