    In the central part is the coat of arms of Ecuador: an oval shield depicting the Chimborazo volcano and the Guayas River; above the shield, a condor with outstretched wings; on the sides, four flags of Ecuador. Around the coat of arms are inscriptions in Spanish: 'GRAM.5. UN SUCRE LEY 0.720' - 5 grams one sucre 0.720 fineness, below – Philadelphia USA – 'PHILA∙U∙S∙A'. Along the edge of the coin are dot-like elements.

    In the central part of the coin is struck the left-facing profile of Antonio José Francisco de Sucre y Alcalá – Grand Marshal of Peru. Along the rim is the name Republic of Ecuador in Spanish - 'REPUBLICA DEL ECUADOR', below - the year of mintage '1934'. The edge of the coin features decorative raised dots.
