The center of the coin is occupied by the monogram of Peter I—four crossed letters "P", between which are four signs "İ" (I with a dot above). Inside the monogram, the first two digits of the year of issue "17" are indicated on the left, and "23" on the right (1723). Around the entire circumference of the coin's edge is an inscription, separated by four imperial crowns: МОНЕТА ♚ НОВАѦ ♚ ЦЕНА ♚ РꙊБЛЬ ♚ The rim is decorated with raised dots.
Obverse
The center of the obverse is occupied by the right-facing profile of Peter I, crowned with a laurel wreath. Below the portrait is the abbreviation "SPB" (Saint Petersburg Mint). Around the portrait is the text: ПЕТРЬ I ИМПЕРАТОРЬ IСАМОДЕРЖЕЦЬ ВСЕРОССIИСКIИ The rim is decorated with dots.
