    In the upper part, the Eureka Stockade fort erected by the rebelling gold miners. Above the stockade flies the symbolic flag with the stars of the Southern Cross; to its left is the mint mark: Canberra – 'C'. In the lower part, military and police personnel approach the fortifications to attack the rebels. In the upper part, along the rim arc, the English text 'EUREKA STOCKADE 1854'; to the left, horizontally, '1 DOLLAR'.

    In the central part, the right-facing profile of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain wearing a crown. Below the neck truncation of the monarch is the sculptor's mark 'IRB' - Ian Rank-Broadley. In the left part, along the rim arc, the Queen's name in English 'ELIZABETH II'; on the right, the name of the independent state and the year of minting - 'AUSTRALIA 2004'.
