The central part features the coat of arms of Australia with animal depictions - a Kangaroo on the left and an Emu on the right (unofficial national emblems), which support the shield and are shown standing on grass. Below is a ribbon with the inscription "ADVANCE AUSTRALIA". Above the shield is a line in the form of a rope, and above that, a seven-pointed star. The six rays of the star represent the six states, and the seventh represents the combined territories and Australia. Along the upper edge arc is the inscription: "THREEPENCE". Along the lower edge arc of the coin is the issue date "1916", placed between two heraldic roses. The coin's edge features decorative elements in the form of denticles.
  • Obverse
The central part features the left-facing profile of British Emperor George V. Around the edge, from left to right, runs the Latin text "GEORGIVS V D. G. BRITT: OMN: REX F. D. IND: IMP:", which translates to "GEORGE V, by the Grace of God, King of all the Britains, Defender of the Faith. King and Emperor of India". A raised dot is present at the bottom. The coin's edge features decorative raised denticles.
