    At the top, an image of a frigate, with the year of minting '1994' to its right. In the central part, an engraving based on the painting by French artist Nicolas-André Monsiau: 'King Louis XVI giving instructions to Jean-François de Laperouse on June 29, 1785' during preparations for the great Pacific expedition. Below the image, the navigator's lifespan '1756-1788'. At the bottom, along the rim, the traveler's name - 'COMTE DE LA PÉROUSE'.

    In the central part, the state coat of arms: against a background of radial patterns, a heraldic shield with a stylized image of the 'Southern Cross' constellation, sea waves, and a coconut palm. Above the shield is a cross, with olive branches on the sides. In the lower part of the coat of arms is the motto 'God is the foundation of Samoa' (Samoan: FA’AVAE I LE ATUA SAMOA). In the upper part, along the arc of the coin's edge, the state name 'Western Samoa' in Samoan 'SAMOA I SISIFO', at the bottom – '$ 10'.
