  • Reverse
    The central part features the text: GROSZE. Above the inscription is the numeral 3. Below the inscription is the year of mintage '1838'. On the left side of the reverse is a laurel branch, and on the right, an oak branch. Below, the branches are tied together with a ribbon, the knot of which forms a bow.
  • Obverse
    The center of the obverse is occupied by a double-headed eagle, the coat of arms of the Russian Empire. Both eagle heads bear crowns, and a third, larger crown is placed between them. All three crowns are connected by a ribbon. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow: a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). Around the shield is the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle. The coats of arms on the wings: Left wing: Polish, Taurian, Finnish. Right wing: Kazan, Astrakhan, Siberian. In the right talon is a scepter, above it the letter 'M'. In the left talon is an orb, above it the letter 'W'. Together, the letters indicate the Warsaw Mint.
