    In the central part is the coat of arms: a crowned shield, featuring a lion and two thistles in the upper part and a stylized pickaxe in the lower part. Behind the shield, within a stylized frame, is the abbreviation 'G VI R I' meaning 'GEORGE VI KING EMPEROR'. Below, divided by the shield, is the personal mark of the artist George Edward Kruger-Gray - 'KG'. Along the rim on the sides is the country name 'SOUTHERN RHODESIA' in English, at the top - the year of minting '1938', at the bottom - 'HALF CROWN' framed by crosses. The edge is decorated with decorative denticles.

    In the central part of the coin is the left-facing profile of King George VI of Great Britain. To the right and left along the rim is the English text 'GEORGE VI KING EMPEROR', which translates to 'GEORGE VI KING EMPEROR'. Below the monarch's neck truncation is the author's mark of the British medallist 'PM' - Percy Metcalfe. The coin's edge features decorative raised denticles.
