  • Reverse
    The central part of the reverse features a relief image of the German poet and composer Walther von der Vogelweide, holding a scroll in his right hand. To the right of the poet is a pair of doves, to the left is a heraldic shield with a bird in a cage depicted on it, at his feet are a stringed musical instrument and a sword. Along the upper edge of the coin is the German inscription 'Walther von der Vogelweide', and the issue date '1930'.

    The central part features the coat of arms of the German Reich - a shield with a heraldic eagle, wings spread, facing left. To the left, above, and to the right of the shield are stylized clouds. In the upper cloud is the letter 'A' - the mint mark of the Berlin mint. Arcing along the top edge is the German text 'Deutsches Reich' (German Empire). Below is the inscription 'Drei Reichsmark' (Three Reichsmarks). The central image is separated from the legend by raised dot elements.
