    In the foreground are ancient weapons of war: a shield, helmet, sword, spear, war hammer, battle axe; on the left is a church vessel. Behind them, on the left on a pedestal, is the Monomakh's Cap on a charter with a seal and a writing set; on the front side of the pedestal is an image of the double-headed eagle of Ivan III. On the right, on two books, are a scepter, an orb, and an image of the Lesser Coat of Arms of the Russian Empire in a decorative frame topped with the crown of Catherine II. In the background is a view of the Moscow Kremlin, above it is the Standard of the President of the Russian Federation. On a wide band formed by the rim and a concentric circular line is an inscription running from left down to right: "1150th ANNIVERSARY OF THE ORIGIN OF RUSSIAN STATEHOOD". In the upper part of the band is an ornament of wavy lines.

Below on the right are the weight of the pure precious metal "1000.0" and the manufacturer's (mint) designation "SPMD". In the central part of a characteristic dotted circle is a double-headed eagle, and below it is stamped the name of the coin's issuer "BANK OF RUSSIA".
