    On the surface of the brilliant mirror field of the coin, in the center is the Universiade logo (a four-line inscription: 'UNIVERSIADE KAZAN 2013 RUSSIA', executed in fonts of different sizes, with five small stars below it); around them are relief images of athletes representing various sports, from top to bottom right: javelin throw, basketball, rhythmic gymnastics, football, running, volleyball, field hockey, rowing, diving; at the bottom right is a wide arched band with a floral ornament; on the band near the rim, formed by a concentric line, is an inscription running from left down to right: 'XXVII WORLD SUMMER UNIVERSIADE 2013 IN KAZAN', complemented at the top by a floral ornament.

    In the upper part along the rim arc is the denomination of the coin 'TEN THOUSAND RUBLES', slightly lower on the left is the metal designation from the periodic table Au and the fineness 999, lower in the center is the year of minting '2013', lower on the right is the weight of the precious metal in pure form '1000.0' and the manufacturer's (mint) designation 'SPMD'. In the central part of a characteristic dotted border is a double-headed eagle, and below it is the name of the coin's issuer 'BANK OF RUSSIA'.
