    In the central part is a stylized depiction of a lion walking to the right across the savannah, presented against a backdrop of mountains. The relief designs in the central part of the reverse are enclosed within a semicircle, the ends of which, left and right, are marked by ornamental vignettes. Along the upper edge arc is the English text "EAST AFRICA". To the left and right are relief images of a diamond. At the bottom is a three-line inscription: "1 SHILLING 1922". The numbers "1922" indicate the year of issue. The coin's edge features decorative elements in the form of denticles.

    In the central part is the left-facing profile of British Emperor George V wearing a crown. Along the edge arc of the coin, on the left, top, and right, is the Latin inscription "GEORGIVS V REX ET IND: IMP:", which translates to "George V, King and Emperor of India". The coin's edge features decorative raised denticles.
