In the central part—a 16th-century engraving depicting scenes of ancient Russian life, framed by the entrance portal of the Church of the Nativity of the Theotokos at the Ferapontov Monastery; above it—Dionisiy's fresco from the middle tier 'The Nativity of Mary' with scenes of the Bathing, Infancy, and Caressing; to the left and right of the portal—Archangels Gabriel and Michael; beneath the archangels—an orphrey with decorative circles; at the bottom—the text: DIONISIY, beneath it—an ornament of stylized flowers.
Obverse
In the upper part, along the rim arc, the coin's denomination 'TEN THOUSAND RUBLES' is inscribed; slightly below on the left, the metal designation from Mendeleev's periodic table Au and fineness 999 are indicated; below in the center, the year of minting '2002' is placed; below on the right, the weight of the precious metal in pure form '1000.00' and the manufacturer's (mint) mark 'MMD' are struck. Within a characteristic dotted circle in the central part, a double-headed eagle is positioned, and beneath it, the issuer's name 'BANK OF RUSSIA' is struck.
