    In the central part, the inscription in German "3 REICHS MARKS" is arranged in three lines. Below it is the mint mark, the letter "E". Around the edge of the coin is a stylized wreath of oak branches with leaves and acorns. At the bottom, the branches of the wreath are crossed.

    In the central part is a figure of a medieval knight with his right hand raised and his left hand holding a shield bearing the heraldic eagle, which is the coat of arms of Germany. To the left of the shield image is the inscription in the form of numbers "19", to the right - "25", indicating the year of issue. To the left, above, and to the right along the rim is an inscription in German "JAHRTAUSEND FEIER DER RHEINLANDE", which translates to "Millennium Celebration of the Rhineland". Below, along the rim, is the inscription "DEUTSCHES REICH", which translates from German as "German Empire".
